FTTP (Fibre to the Premises)

FTTP means fibre optic cable runs all the way to your home or building—often called full fibre—with no copper street leg to limit speed.

Why it matters

FTTP usually supports higher and more stable speeds than copper-based technologies, and often better upload symmetry for video calls and cloud backups.

Example in UK broadband

A household upgrading from FTTC might move from speed that drops with distance from the cabinet to FTTP where headline speeds are more consistent—subject to package and in-home Wi‑Fi.
